Warped graphics and black mirrors: Smack Nightclub
Our brief was to produce and install graphics for the newly refurbished Smack Nightclub.
From a creative concept supplied by the client, Steve Smith, we created artwork to achieve the effect of a warped grid to cover the walls and ceiling of the hallway. The final artwork was then applied to pre-existing back-lit perspex panels.
For the club’s main dance floor, grid artwork printed on clear vinyl and backed in white was applied to the reverse of acrylic squares. Black vinyl was applied to the reverse of glass panels for the bar, creating the effect of black mirrors.
Throughout the project, it was vital that the installation and production teams worked together right from the outset. Understanding the goals, the site and the processes were critical in ensuring the final execution was exactly as intended.
